The following is a short review of the Tedani.com Aluminum skid mounts.

First I'd like to thank Ted of Tedani for providing X400Tuning with this product for review.

As anyone who owns one already knows, the landing gear for the X400 are both brittle and poorly designed. The plastic is molded with small rings that bolt to the frame and often break just trying to get them installed. Retro-fitting T-Rex landing gear onto the X400 is very common and is usually done by either drilling new holes in the plastic and frame and bolting it together, or simply by using zip-ties. I have myself tried to make brackets out of a thin piece of brass, but ended up trashing them as it turned out to be quite a bit trickier then expected and no very attractive.

Let's take a look at the supplied parts ...
Tedani has designed a set of very well machined, attractive brackets that bolt to the X400 frame and allow mounting of any undercart designed for the T-Rex. The kit includes (4) gold anodized aluminum brackets and (8) screws to mount them to the frame and to mount the undercart.

No instructions were provided, but there is really only 2 ways you can install the brackets. I naturally installed them incorrectly at first. If installed with the shorter side against the frame the holes will not line up correctly when you mount the landing gear. Once you've got that figured out, everything goes together very quickly. Using the shorter screws, bold the mounts to the from by attaching from the inside of the frame. Be sure to use a little loctite as this is a metal to metal connection. Make sure they are all nice and straight before tightening. Next take your favorite set of T-Rex skids and bolt them on with the longer screws coming up from the bottom. Again by sure to use loctite.

The pictures below show the initial incorrect mounting .....
Now the correct mounting and finished product .....
The finished product is very clean simple. I would consider this a must-have for every X400 owner. It's inexpensive, well made and remedies one of the X400 biggest weak points.
