Next is the main gear assembly. This is very basic with the only item that
could be assembled incorrectly being forgetting to put the space washer
on top of the main gear before installing into the frames. The one way
bearing is a push fit into the smallertail drive gear, take care to align
the holes in the one way bearing with the holes in the gear. The main gear
then push fits onto the smaller gear and bearing. Finally the spacer washer
is placed on top and the gear can be inserted into the frames. Also at
this point the main shaft is installed into the upper frames, don't forget
to fit the locking collar onto the mast. The main gear is bolted to the
shaft through the holes previously aligned. Once the gear is secured in
place the whole shaft should be pulled upwards so that the main gear presses
against the lower bearing mounted in the frames. The main shaft locking
collar should then be tightened. You should end up with a main shaft that
has no vertical movement and is nicely locked into place. |
