No build thread would be complete without the mandatory in flight shots
and static ground shots :)
So, how does it fly?
Due to those heavy paddles the model is actually very stable, far more
so than the T-Rex which is extremely sensitive to cyclic movements. Control
response is immediate and everything feels smooth and progressive. Hovering
is almost hands off in light winds and easily controllable in stronger
(10mph) winds. The whole model has a tighter feel to it than a standard
T-Rex, which in no small part is due to the slop free controls. As a beginners
machine I would pick the X400 every time as it is much less sensitive.
For 3D pilots I think the weighted paddles would have to go and be replaced
by something more sensitive to cyclic inputs. Unfortunately that's as far
as I've got but I'll add info here once the UK winds die down and I can
get some proper flight time on the machine. |
